Laster Orthodontics isn’t your typical orthodontist practice. Dr. Laster and his staff strive to not only provide their community with perfect smiles, but also generous donations, hands-on assistance, and overall enrichment. With the practice having locations in Raleigh, Zebulon, and Rolesville, Dr. Laster believes that these communities deserve to get back as much as they give to the Laster team. Laster Orthodontics takes particular interest in the activities that directly affect and involve the families of their patients in order to be an active participant in the communities.
Events for the Community
Laster Orthodontics participates and hosts events throughout the year to give back. In October, Dr. Laster and his team encouraged patients to bring in their Halloween candy for a Candy Buyback. For every pound of candy brought in, Dr. Laster paid patients $1, and then matched their candy donation by $2. The candy and cash donation was then taken to the Ronald McDonald House, a nonprofit organization that assists sick children and their families with needs like temporary housing.
This past March, the Laster Orthodontics team held a March Madness party to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Laster was able to raise over $1,000 dollars which went directly to the nonprofit organization. Dr. Laster offers generous donations for free orthodontic treatment to local silent auctions to help raise money for these organizations as well. One of the charities supported this way is 1 of Us, a female cancer charity that was founded by the mother of one Dr. Laster’s patients, who is also a survivor of cancer. The Zebulon Rotary club, the Bedford Sharks swim team, the Rolesville Chamber of Commerce, and several local schools also receive these silent auction donations.
Community Involvement
Laster Orthodontics prides themselves on supporting their community through a series of consistent sponsorships. Laster often partners with the Rolesville Chamber of Commerce for their annual events to provide sponsorships and auction prizes. This year, Laster Orthodontics was the Bronze level sponsor for the Rolesville BBQ & Bands Festival and provided a free set of braces to be auctioned for the Rolesville Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. Laster Orthodontics will also be in the annual Rolesville Christmas Parade on December 2nd, 2018.
Servicing the Community
Recognizing and providing services to those in need is a major part of the Laster Orthodontics culture. Orthodontic treatment is important, but there are many in the community who cannot afford the service. Dr. Laster recognizes this need, and has partnered with Masonic Children’s Home to provide 300 sets of braces free of charge.
Everyday heroes are an important part of any community, so the Laster Orthodontics team offers a discount for orthodontic services to show their appreciation and gratitude. This discount is available for active duty military personnel, firemen, teachers, police, clergy members, paramedics, and first responders on their orthodontic services.
The Laster team has also participated in a multitude of programs to help provide goods to the local community, like Backpack Buddies. This program provides children from within the Triangle’s seven-county area with food. The Linus Project, which aims to provide blankets to children in need, is also close to Dr. Laster’s heart.
Laster Orthodontics actively hosts canned food drives for the local food bank and collects hundreds of toys for Toys for Tots each year. Dr. Laster, an avid sports fan and believer in artistic expression, sponsors dozens of local sports teams, and children and teens who participate in the performing arts.
Patient Rewards for Community Service
Encouraging others to give back is one of the most impactful things Laster Orthodontics does for their community. Dr. Laster offers his patients the opportunity to accumulate points for rewards. At Laster, patients can receive 5 points for every hour they volunteer within the community. This inspires others to give back, leading to a larger impact for those in need.
